Welcome to Hex, Lies and Videogames! This has been my on-and-off blog for over 10 years now. I thought it was about time I gave it a rehash and use it more as a promotional tool for myself, than a place to, very occasionally, write down random thoughts.
I’ll also use this site to share personal images and moments that have happened during the development of the games I’ve worked upon. Maybe somebody will find it interesting or rekindle some fond past memories.
Games have been a part of my entire adult life and I hope to continue in this great industry, until I’m too old to hang up my own controller.
I started out doing art for games, but quickly found that design is where I wanted to be. I’ve also help found two game development studios, which you can read more about here:
I’ve played and created games for almost three decades. I’ve worked on 2d Platformers, Space Shooters, 3rd Person Action Adventures and everything in-between. I still love it.
My Dad loved photography. He would spend hours walking around older parts of Manchester & Oldham taking pictures. It rubbed off on me, too.
Graphic Design & Art
I originally started in the games industry as an artist. I quickly realized I wasn’t very good, but I appreciate those that are. Graphic Design is also something that fascinates me, as it’s such an important part of interactive design.
Animation & Movies
Movies, like games, are amazingly crafted experiences. Both very different, but follow so closely, on so many levels. It’s very clear to see how they’ve affected each other as technologies have progressed.
